ReSport Launches Platform for British Rowing Challenges and Virtual Races

Realtime Experience Sport (ReSport), a platform for advanced mapping, registration, results, and race tracking systems, has partnered with British Rowing to develop a slate of virtual events to compensate for the cancellation of rowing races due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

First up, the 1 Minute Challenge kicks off Friday, May 6 (BST) with four countries going head-to-head to rack up the most indoor rowing meters covered in one minute (per participant). Joining British Rowing will be Rowing Australia, Rowing Canada Aviron, and Rowing New Zealand. Standings will track all participants as well as statistics for each country, displayed on a real-time viewer.

Early next week five challenges will allow British rowers (or anyone in the world) to keep themselves motivated over the following weeks and months. Registrants can choose from Row the Atlantic, Row the English Channel, Row the River Thames, Row the Severn (for Welsh Rowing enthusiasts), or Row the Tyne (for Scottish Rowing fans). Participation is free of charge and all rowers receive their own progress log and tracking map showing their real-time position along the route. A real-time map showing all participants will also be available on the British Rowing website (BritishRowing.org).

Later in May the competition heats up with a series of virtual races across the spectrum of distances. Participants will submit their best effort and a real-time leaderboard will keep them engaged. The races will culminate in an interactive viewer allowing the world to watch the competition unfold head-to-head for each distance.

ReSport offers registration for a variety of event types, including races, camps, clinics, performances, challenges, and virtual races, through its cloud-based software. ReSport also offers interactive course mapping with unlimited routes and elevation profiles for races and tours, advance results displays, and participant tracking. All components of the platform are mobile-friendly and update in real-time, without the need for browser refresh.
