Renowned Miami Marathon Set for Virtual Execution in 2021 – #VirtuallyMiamiFamous

Life Time reveals medal & ribbon designs in partnership with local artists, introduces virtual expo available to the public
MIAMI, Fla., Jan. 13, 2021 — With thousands already registered and only a few spots remaining, #VirtuallyMiamiFamous, the first-ever digital experience of the Life Time Miami Marathon and Half Marathon presented by cbdMD, has proven to be popular with runners as they kick off the New Year. Participants can complete the 26.2 mile full, 13.1 mile half or 5K distances—or any combination of these distances—between January 10 and 31 and receive access to a complimentary marathon training program created by Miami Marathon co-founder Frankie Ruiz, a unique medal that celebrates the conservation efforts of Miami’s coastal waters and reefs, and other swag. For the first time in 18 years, Ruiz plans to run the marathon himself, aiming to complete all three distances.
Known for attracting runners from around the world, the Life Time Miami Marathon remains a popular destination race even in virtual form. Registrants are taking part from 46 states and 42 countries throughout the world, with the oldest runner age 83 and the youngest age 7.

As with previous Miami Marathons, the finisher’s medal and ribbon is always a standout feature. This year’s design celebrates conservation efforts along the Florida coastline. The medal is a stackable concept beginning with a golden base with additional components that are earned by runners as they complete each respective distance option. The layers represent carved mangrove roots, coral, water and palm trees. The full, half and 5K distance ribbons were created by VACO Studio in partnership with SendIt4TheSea and feature a coral reef, seagrass and mangrove design inspiration.
Life Time has also taken the renowned Miami Marathon Expo—a massive exhibitor show and integral experience of race weekend—virtual with the launch of the Miami Famous Runner’s Market. Between Jan. 8 and Feb. 6, participants and the public can head to VirtuallyMiamiFamous.com to learn about a myriad new products, shop with exclusive discount codes, enter giveaways, watch videos and more from virtual vendor and sponsor booths. Additionally, throughout the month, the Market will offer “live” Virtual Booth Sessions, during which visitors can interact with brands face-to-face or by chat. Times include:
