A Record Breaking 26,000-Strong Wave of Event Goers to Flood the Streets of Central London for the Event's Biggest Year Yet

London, UK (February 2, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Excitement is building as thousands of runners prepare to take to the streets of the capital for the 2026 Cancer Research UK London Winter Run, the UK’s largest 10K, on Sunday 15 February 2026. Organisers have officially confirmed a record-breaking total of 26,000 participants will line up at the start, ready to take on the iconic route through the heart of London.

The closed-road 10K course passes landmarks including Trafalgar Square, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Houses of Parliament, with winter-themed surprises along the way. Runners can look forward to the ‘Snow Blast-Off’, high-fiving huskies, dancing penguins, and the beloved Polar Bears waiting at the finish-as well as the 2026 finisher medal inspired by the National Gallery.

Joining the day’s monumental celebrations, Olympic legend Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards will be on site to bring his infectious energy and iconic sporting spirit to the event. Taking on a central role for the day, the world-renowned ski jumper will be the official Race Caller and will be stationed at the start line to engage with attendees and provide a hero’s send-off by officially starting each wave of the record-breaking crowd.

The excitement continues beyond the start line as Eddie “The Eagle” heads to the dedicated fan zones to try his hand at the curling lane. In a unique twist for the 2026 event, attendees will have the rare opportunity to step up and go head-to-head with the legendary Olympian in a friendly game of curling. Throughout the day, Eddie will be moving among the crowds to offer personal words of encouragement to participants, ensuring everyone feels the boost of his famous “trier” spirit. After the final waves have set off, the party continues at the famous Aprés Party, where participants can enjoy winter-themed entertainment and a headline post-race performance from Oasiz, the UK’s leading Oasis tribute band.

Spectators are encouraged to join the celebration and watch the action unfold across the capital. Supporters can soak up the electric atmosphere with live music performances and DJs situated along the route, while those looking to get involved can head to the dedicated fan zones to take part in live curling games – a festive winter experience open for everyone to join in.

The iconic event continues its mission to support Cancer Research UK, funding vital research into prevention, detection, and treatment. The 2026 edition promises an unforgettable challenge for runners of all abilities, and a powerful way to celebrate community and give back to those affected by cancer.

Every kilometre covered and every pound raised by the 26,000-strong crowd drives the research that changes outcomes for families across the UK. With the event now officially sold out at record capacity, the atmosphere in the capital is set to be electric as the nation comes together to freeze cancer in its tracks.
