April 25, 2023

Midwest summer classic offers $50,000 U.S. prize money; Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K on May 7 to open the 2023-24 Circuit season

BETHESDA, MD  /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Professional Road Running Organization (PRRO) has announced its newest event member, the Quad-City Times Bix 7, set to run on Saturday, July 29, 2023 in Davenport, IA. The Midwest summer tradition will be the third stop on the 2023-24 PRRO Circuit.

“The Quad-City Times Bix 7 is tremendously excited to join the PRRO Circuit. Our 48 years of tradition and history of supporting elite athletes make the Bix 7 a natural fit with similarly-focused PRRO events in Washington, DC, Spokane, WA and Utica, NY,” said Michelle Juehring, race director.

The 49th edition will also be the USATF Men & Women’s 7 Mile Championships, offering $50,000 in national championship money.

“The Bix 7 is a great event with a long, rich history, and we’re pleased to welcome the race to the PRRO Circuit of America’s Classic Road Races,” said Don Kardong, PRRO Circuit President and Bloomsday founder.

The PRRO Circuit showcases world class competition at four of America’s Classic Road Races, the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile in Washington, DC, the Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K in Spokane, WA, the Boilermaker 15K in Utica, NY and the Quad-City Times Bix 7 in Davenport, IA. Current Circuit prize money totals more than $340,000 in guaranteed prize money overall, including $135,500 in U.S.-only money. The PRRO Circuit, a nationwide series of premier non-marathon road racing events, is organized and promoted by the Professional Road Running Organization (PRRO), an alliance of race directors.

The Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K kicks off the 2023-24 PRRO Circuit season on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Because the $10,000 PRRO Super Bonus went unclaimed at the recent Cherry Blossom, it will increase to $15,000 for the 27th PRRO Championship hosted by Bloomsday in May 2024.
