Colorado Springs, CO, June 10, 2021 – Sports Strategies announces Pikes Peak APEX and The Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance Allocate $20,000 for Trails through PPORA Stewardship Fund.

The PPORA Board of Directors approved an allocation of $20,000, which includes funds reserved from 2020, as well as revenue forecasted to be raised by the 2021 Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox. The money will be spent on trails that will be used in the 2021 edition of The APEX this September, as well as trails that could potentially be used by the event in 2022 and beyond. Details about the projects funded can be found here on PikesPeakAPEX.com.

“The level of support we received for The APEX last year was inspiring, and I am thrilled that we could deliver a successful and profitable event in such challenging circumstances,” says Micah Rice, Executive Director of the Pikes Peak APEX. “Knowing the funds we raise are reinvested to support the region’s trails, makes us work even harder.”

“The goal of the money being reserved is to allocate a percentage of each year’s funding to ensure fund viability and to provide potential matching funds or seed money for regional trail and outdoor recreation initiatives that will benefit the Pikes Peak region,” Becky Leinweber, Executive Director of the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance.

The second annual Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox will be held September 23-26, 2021. This unique, four-day mountain bike challenge draws both pros and amateurs for four days of riding on the slopes of Pikes Peak in Olympic City, USA. Riders experience exhilarating, exceptionally crafted routes through dirt roads, jeep trails and the amazing alpine singletrack that is quintessential Pikes Peak. The world-class event supports Trail Stewardship and drives economic impact to the area in order to improve the trails and open space in the Pikes Peak region for the lasting enjoyment of its residents and visitors. The APEX, a Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance project, was developed and is operated by Sports Strategies, a division of Tourism Strategies, LLC.
