Outside Interactive, Inc. to Debut Belgian Waffle Ride Documentary

November 17, 2021

2022 ride registrants also receive a free Outside Cycling Bundle, including access to VeloNews and Peloton magazine

BOULDER (Nov. 17, 2021) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Outside Interactive, Inc., the world’s leading creator of active lifestyle content, services, events, and experiences, has teamed up with Monuments of Cycling, a premier cycling events producer to debut “This is Not a Gravel Race,” a documentary film about the largest gravel bike race in the United States, the Belgian Waffle Ride (BWR).

“The Belgian Waffle Ride is one of the most mentally and physically challenging cycling events out there, and the documentary is nothing short of honest and inspiring,” said Outside CEO, Robin Thurston. “We’re placing our audience—many of whom are cyclists themselves—right into the thick of the race. While you might not kick up any gravel, you’ll be sweating alongside riders on every twist and turn of the course.”

The documentary chronicles the 10th anniversary of the BWR CA, an extremely challenging 135-mile, multi-surface course across gravel, roads, rocks, sand, a single track, and water crossings – all taken on in temperatures reaching 112 degrees. Not only does the film highlight the arduous trails to victory for winners Peter Stetina and Katerina Nash, but also the journeys of several other riders from a variety of backgrounds. Those include BMX star, Andrew Jackson, cycling newbie and former D1 soccer standout, IZ King, professional road cycling champion, Whitney Allison, and PR and marketing maven, Alain Mazer. With over 4,000 registrants, the BWR is the largest gravel race in history, to date.

Premiering Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 9:30PM ET, the documentary will be streamed across Outside’s multiple distribution platforms, including Outside TV and Outside’s cycling titles, such as VeloNews and Peloton. Outside TV is available on YouTube TV, Amazon Channels, Comcast XFINITY, Samsung TV Plus, Sling TV, The Roku Channel, and VIZIO.

As of Tuesday, Nov. 16, registration has opened for all four of the 2022 Belgian Waffle Rides and the Quadrupel Crown of Gravel series. All registrants will also receive a free year of the Outside Cycling Bundle valued at $49.99 which includes access to VeloNews membership content and six issues of Peloton magazine in print and digital.

In addition to the film, BWR and Outside have agreed to an exclusive partnership providing BWR access to Outside’s BikeReg platform and FinisherPix services. Ride registrants will use the BikeReg platform to sign-up for the BWR events, track their status, and receive discounted photo packages through FinisherPix.
