One Hundred Integrates Gretel Planner to Elevate Race Preparation Across Global Trail Championship

March 26, 2026

Strategic collaboration introduces race strategy technology to help athletes plan pacing, nutrition and effort across some of the world’s most demanding trail races

London, UK (26 March 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The One Hundred World Championship has announced a collaboration with race planning platform Gretel Planner, introducing advanced race-strategy technology to selected championship races and strengthening the series’ commitment to athlete preparation and innovation in trail running.

For 2026, Gretel Planner will be integrated into several events within the One Hundred World Championship, including Costa Rica 200, Ladakh Trail to Heaven, Cro-Trail, and the Mons Ultra Trail Grand Final. The platform will be available to registered athletes free of charge as part of their race entry.

Trail and ultra-distance racing demand far more than fitness alone. With steep elevation profiles, technical terrain and long hours on the trail, success often depends on how well athletes understand the course and manage their effort, pacing and nutrition across the race. Gretel Planner helps runners visualise the race before they run it.

Using GPX course data and technical race information, the platform allows athletes to analyse elevation, plan pacing strategies, determine nutrition schedules and map their expected timing through checkpoints and key sections of the course. By clearly understanding the course and the organiser’s guidance or warnings, athletes can better anticipate difficult situations on the trail, improving decision-making and helping minimise mistakes during the race.

For an international race series like One Hundred, this level of course insight is particularly valuable. An athlete travelling from the other side of the world can fully understand the demands of a race long before arriving at the start line — preparing as if the course were in their own backyard. It allows runners to adapt their training to the terrain, anticipate environmental conditions and even choose the most appropriate gear to bring for the challenge ahead.

Under the collaboration, Gretel Planner integrates One Hundred race data into the Gretel platform, enabling registered runners to build and adjust their race strategy ahead of their event to enhance their overall race experience.

For One Hundred, the integration represents another step in strengthening the athlete experience across the championship’s ecosystem.

“Trail running is a sport where preparation and strategy often determine the outcome long before race day,” said João de Saldanha, Co-Founder and CEO of One Hundred. “By integrating Gretel Planner into our races, we’re giving athletes the ability to truly understand the course ahead of them, helping turn preparation into confidence and ambition into performance.”

For Gretel Planner founder Jorge Vilanova, the collaboration reflects a shared vision of using technology to support athletes in some of the world’s most challenging endurance environments.

“Our goal is to help runners visualise their race before they step onto the trail,” said Vilanova. “When athletes understand the terrain, the climbs and the rhythm of the course, they can make smarter decisions and enjoy the experience more.”

As the One Hundred World Championship continues to connect iconic trail races across the globe, the integration of race-planning technology represents another step toward raising standards for both athletes and organisers — helping ensure that preparation, safety and performance remain at the heart of One Hundred’s continued evolution.
