Mount to Coast Releases the M1, A Long Distance Mountain Running Shoe for the Toughest Terrain

Built for Western States, UTMB, and other Trail Ultras, the new model will keep any runner at their best on long days and demanding trails

HONG KONG, August 11, 2026 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The new Mount to Coast M1 is built to help runners conquer long, hard miles on the rough trails. Early versions of this shoes have seen success on the race course, helping to power Canyon Woodward’s top-ten finish at the 2026 Western States 100, and also seeing fast miles under Kilian Korth, Cody Poskin, and others during the tough opening miles of the 2026 Cocodona 250.The M1 is on sale today on MounttoCoast.com and select US, EU, and Asian retailers. The shoes will be available more broadly in September.

The high-cushion, high-stack M1 uses the new JETCELL material to ensure that runner’s feet stay comfortable over long miles, whether during an ultra-distance race or a fast-paced hike. Like other Mount to Coast materials, JETCELL is more resilient than other midsole foams, resulting in a long-lasting shoe that maintains its cushion and responsive feel over many training and racing miles.

The M1’s upper uses durable materials that will protect runner’s feet from rocks, sharp vegetation, and other trail hazards, while a Vibram sole provides a secure grip on any surface. The shoe’s footprint is wider than other trail models and the shoe is built with higher sidewalls that help runners feel confident in their footing, even when cruising on loose surfaces. M1 also uses Mount to Coast’s TUNEDFIT dual lacing system to allow mid-run fit adjustment, and a wide toe box leaves plenty of room for feet to expand over the course of a race or long run.
