Maurizio Fondriest and Marco Melandri Will Race Virtually in The PEDALITALY XMAS Cycling Series on ROUVY

With the indoor season in full swing, PEDALITALY has created a special XMAS circuit: four 'virtual races' with the aim to give cycling enthusiasts around the globe the chance to enjoy and discover insights of four beautiful destinations in Italy via ROUVY.

December 15th, 2020 – With the indoor season in full swing, PEDALITALY has created a special XMAS circuit: four ‘virtual races’ with the aim to give cycling enthusiasts around the globe the chance to enjoy and discover insights of four beautiful destinations in Italy via ROUVY.

-PEDALITALY Campiglio Virtual Race (Trentino-Alto Adige) December 16th at 7:00 p.m (CET).

Starting from Preore, in the province of Trento, riders will take on the demanding ascent to Madonna di Campiglio, the pearl of the Brenta Dolomites against former cycling world champion Maurizio Fondriest and former motorcycle road racer world champion Marco Melandri.

-PEDALITALY Verona Virtual Race (Veneto) 20th December at 10:00 a.m (CET).

Participants will set off from the centre of Verona and ride through Val Squaranto to the heart of the Lessini Mountains, before reaching Bosco Chiesanuova. During the race they will enjoy breathtaking views and see vineyards, cypress avenues, dry stone walls and the typical rural villages of the area.

-PEDALITALY Tonale Virtual Race (Trentino-Alto Adige – Lombardy ) December 27th at 10:00 a.m (CET).

This will be one of the most challenging races: riders will tackle the epic Passo del Tonale which has seen the most famous cyclists challenge each other on this historic climb. Starting from the centre of Edolo, the ride goes through the Camonica Valley as far as Ponte di Legno and starts climbing the legendary pass between Lombardy and Trentino Alto Adige up to an altitude of 1884 meters.

-PEDALITALY Trebbio Virtual Race (Tuscany) 30th December at 7:00 p.m (CET).

Starting from the town of Piaggione you will cycle along the Serchio river that flows under one of the most original bridges in Tuscany: the Devil’s Bridge. You will continue your ride to the town of Bagni di Lucca, famous for its thermal baths and springs, and then you will tackle one of the most popular climbs for cyclists in Lucca: the Trebbio Pass.

Broadcasting

The virtual races will be streamed live on PEDALITALY’s Facebook and Twitch pages and will be commented on by professional speakers such as Paolo Mei and Veronica Bellandi Bulgari who will make racers feel like professional cyclists at Giro d’Italia.

To participate all needed is a bike, a smart trainer, ROUVY AR App and a screen. The live streaming broadcast can be followed on Facebook or Twitch from 25 minutes before the start of each race.
