Marathon Training Academy, UCAN and MetPro Create Another Viral Virtual Challenge

September 21, 2020

New 100 Mile Challenge Helps Runners Stay Active

One immensely popular race has led to another for Marathon Training Academy and nutrition brand, UCAN. Just after the onset of the pandemic, the two companies launched The “Social Distancing” Run in honor of the un-run races that were being cancelled day after day. The event almost immediately went viral on social media with thousands of “likes”, comments and “shares,” and over 15,000 people registered from all 50 states and 45 countries. With the prospects of racing still bleak for 2020, MTA and UCAN are back at it again, this time offering a new challenge.

“The amazing response from our The ‘Social Distancing’ Run inspired us to launch the ‘100 Mile Challenge,’ a virtual endeavor that does an even better job at encouraging participants to get out the door and run,” says Trevor Spencer, who co-owns MTA with his wife Angie Spencer. Runners in the 100 Mile Challenge are tasked with running 100 miles between now and the end of the year, whether that takes one day, one week, one month, or the rest of the year. “The community has jumped at this new challenge – we already have over 3,000 registrants – and we’re thrilled to support their goals to live active, healthy lives.”

Finishers earn a new, clever medal one might say is “a work of art,” designed after the Mona Lisa. Registrants are given access to MTA’s Online Run Tracker, training content from Coach Angie, access to the very popular “Social Distancing” Run Facebook Group (over 12,000 active members) and receive exclusive offers from UCAN and MetPro, the co-presenting partners.

“UCAN immediately agreed to support this new virtual challenge because it aligns so well with our ethos,” says Shoba Murali, CEO of UCAN. “Leading an active lifestyle supported by proper nutrition means longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.”
