Machines For Freedom x Filmed By Bike Accepting Applicants for BIPOC Filmmaker Grant

October 22, 2020

Los Angeles, Calif. (Oct 22, 2020) – Machines For Freedom®, the inclusive women’s cycling apparel brand is proud to announce the new BIPOC Filmmaker Grant in partnership with Filmed By Bike. The grant program is now accepting applicants and is open to Black, Indigenous and all People of Color, and requires no previous experience.

“We are so honored to partner with Filmed By Bike to sponsor this initiative and support emerging BIPOC filmmakers with funding, mentorship, and the spotlight they deserve,” said Machines For Freedom founder Jenn Kriske. “Shining a light on the experiences of cyclists who are not always celebrated by the cycling industry at large is something that has inspired Machines since our inception. We are all for more representation in the cycling space, the arts, and creating space for all stories!”

The BIPOC Grant Program will offer grants up to $2,000 to the grant winners.  Filmmakers will have the option of being paired with an advisor for one-on-one support in bringing the film concept to the screen. Films granted through this program will be reviewed by the Filmed by Bike Festival Jury, an annual panel of bike and film lovers, and final films will be presented in the Annual Filmed by Bike Festival in May of 2021 and subsequently go on tour around the world.

Those eligible to apply include Black, Indigenous and all People of Color who are emerging filmmakers, no experience required. All projects must have a strong central theme of cycling. All applications are due by December 1, 2020. Films completed by April 1, 2021 will be shown in Filmed By Bike’s 2021 festival. All films must be completed by December 31, 2021.
