Little Rockers Registration Opens

September 17, 2025

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Race officials with the Little Rock Marathon announced today that registration for the 2026 Little Rockers Kids Marathon, presented by the Hatcher Agency, opens Sept. 17.

The Little Rockers Kids Marathon will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. as part of the annual Little Rock Marathon Weekend.

Created for children in 1st through 6th grade, the program encourages kids to stay active by completing 25.2 miles of running or walking at their own pace before race day. On event day, participants finish their marathon by completing the final mile on the official Little Rock Marathon course—cheered on by family, friends, and spectators.

Since its launch in 2004, the program has inspired more than 103,000 children to log an estimated 2.7 million miles. Kids from every Arkansas county and 27 different states have taken part in the Final Mile celebration.

Last year, 80 students from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in North Little Rock, Ark., participated in Little Rockers. Program coach Holly Gillette said she believes the program is a great way to keep kids active beyond normal school hours and served as another way to get parents involved with the school.

“I believe it’s a perfect way to teach students the importance of being active and reaching a goal after many weeks of practicing,” Gillette said. “My favorite part was seeing their smiles after finishing the race!”

Gillette and Kelly Lincicome coach the program at Immaculate Conception. Lincicome said that while having the program through the year is fun, clearly everyone’s favorite part of the program is stepping up to the official Little Rockers Final Mile on the Saturday of Race Weekend.

“Parents and kids love Race Day,” Lincicome said. “Last year, we worked with Buenos Aires to host an afterparty immediately following the race. The families loved this time together.”

Lincicome noted that the IC art teacher designed the shirts, and that with Little Rockers on a small campus like IC, it’s truly a team effort to make it happen.

And for Little Rock Marathon Executive Director Geneva Lamm, it’s the life lessons like that – that it really does take a village to make events like Little Rockers happen – she hopes the everyone involved with Little Rockers walks away with, not the medals or the miles they ran.

“The Little Rockers program motivates children to commit to healthy habits while showing them the value of setting and achieving goals,” said LRM Executive Director Geneva Lamm, “It’s about more than just running—it’s about building life skills.”

Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.
