Life Time Silver Rush 50 Welcomes More Than 1,600 Runners and Riders to the Beautiful Leadville High Country

July 11, 2023

Leadville, Colo./ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Life Time Silver Rush 50 Run presented by La Sportiva and Stages Cycling Silver Rush 50 MTB events, owned and produced by Life Time (NYSE: LTH), took place on back-to-back days this weekend, bringing more than 1,600 runners and cyclists representing 43 states and 10 countries to Leadville, Colo. Athletes ages 16 to 74 years old took on various event distances as part of this family-friendly, challenging endurance weekend, helping kick off the race series’ 40th year of racing in the magical Cloud City.

Runners and riders participating in the 50-mile out-and-back races climbed more than 7,500 feet and reached 12,000 feet on four separate occasions. Leadville also hosted 15-mile running and MTB races over the weekend, which each had a total elevation gain of approximately 1,600 feet and reached a high point of 10,900 feet, starting and finishing on the same course as the Silver Rush 50 race. A brand-new addition for this year, the Silver Rush Juniors 5K Run, was added to the race day itinerary, designed exclusively for runners aged 10 to 18 years old.

Endurance enthusiasts vying for an even bigger challenge were invited to sign up for the Silver Queen and Silver King, first completing the Silver Rush 50 Run on Saturday and then the Stages Cycling Silver Rush 50 MTB on Sunday. This past weekend, 76 athletes finished both events within the allotted time and walked away with the Silver King / Silver Queen title.

“This was the 21st year of the Stages Cycling Silver Rush 50 MTB and the 15th year of the Life Time Silver Rush 50 Run presented by La Sportiva – and it may have been the most spectacular year yet,” said Tamira Jenlink, Race Director. “Congrats to all of our amazing athletes who committed, didn’t quit, and absolutely dug deep. In fact, this year we saw one of the highest finisher rates to-date. A tremendous thank-you to our amazing volunteers – this will go down in history as a year to remember!”
