L’Etape Canada by Tour de France lands in Strathcona County

Sherwood Park Alberta hosts L'Etape Canada

December 19, 2022 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Get ready to experience the atmosphere and passion of the Tour de France, in a new, amateur, mass participation cycling event. Join L’Étape Canada by Tour de France in Strathcona County, Alberta in Canada on August 12 and 13, 2023.

The event offers a distance for all cycling abilities – riders can choose between several competitive distances: 140 km, 80 km or 40 km. There will also be a 15 km Family Ride and a Kids Race.

Riders will compete for authentic Tour de France jerseys including the Yellow Jersey, for the overall male and female winners, the Green Jersey, for the sprint-section winners, and the Polka-Dot Jersey, for the King/Queen of the Mountain (KOM/QOM) section winners.

Tour de France experts and Yellow Jersey holder and Edmontonian Alex Stieda will design the courses expected in early 2023. All routes will depart from the urban area of Sherwood Park and head into Strathcona County’s rolling hills and spectacular views for riders opting for the 140 km distance.

The weekend-long event will include an Athletes Village in Sherwood Park, patterned after the iconic Tour de France Village Départ. A Tour de France Ambassador will attend the event and ride the course with participants and share their Tour de France experiences at a ticketed Champions Dinner. L’Étape Canada by Tour de France offers amateur cyclists the legendary Tour de France experience in Strathcona County, Alberta. Cyclists, from seasoned veterans to beginners, can choose between the 140 km, 80 km, and 40 km courses designed by Tour de France experts. All routes will take off from the urban area of Sherwood Park and head into scenic rural Strathcona County. Riders will compete for an authentic Yellow Jersey and will get the chance to ride with a Tour de France Champion. The event will take place on August 12 and 13, 2023, and is the only event in Canada for L’Étape by Tour de France in 2023.
