Lake Sonoma Announces Trail and Ultra Race Event Date for 2025 and Opens Registration

On Saturday, April 12th, 2025, the picturesque landscape of Lake Sonoma will serve as the backdrop for three exhilarating races: the Lake Sonoma 50 Mile, Marathon, and Trail Sisters Half Marathon. All three events will take place on Saturday, the 50 starting at 6:30am, Marathon at 8:00am, and the Half Marathon at 10:00am.

Participants can look forward to an unforgettable experience as they traverse the stunning trails surrounding Lake Sonoma, offering panoramic views of rolling hills, lush forests, and shimmering waters. The flagship event, the Lake Sonoma 50 Mile (LS50), promises to test the endurance and determination of athletes as they navigate a demanding course that winds through sweet single track and relentless rolling climbs. With its reputation as one of the iconic 50-mile races in the country, the Lake Sonoma 50 Mile attracts elite ultrarunners from around the globe, vying for glory amidst the stunning backdrop of California’s wine country. The LS50 winners go on to win Western States, the UTMB world series and become members of the USATR Mountain, Ultra and Trail Running team, states Skip Brand, Lake Sonoma Race Series Director and Founder of Healdsburg Running Company.

For those seeking a shorter but no less thrilling challenge, the Lake Sonoma Marathon offers a 26.2-mile journey through the region’s most scenic lake side landscapes. Runners will push their limits as they conquer rolling hills on California carpeted trails, all while immersing themselves in the beauty of Lake Sonoma and its surroundings.

Additionally, the Trail Sisters Half Marathon provides a welcoming and empowering environment for female runners to showcase their strength and endurance on the trails. With a focus on camaraderie and community, the Trail Sisters Half Marathon celebrates women in trail running and encourages participants to push beyond their perceived limits. The new 2025 course will begin at Lone Rock parking area, finishing in the large trail fest location of Lake Sonoma near the Visitor Center (same as 50 & Marathon.)
