Inaugural GFNY Paracas this Saturday

June 5, 2024

Riders will tackle a course along the Peruvian Pacific ocean

/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This Saturday, GFNY Paracas offers riders a 116 km race course with an elevation gain of 662 m. Paracas, located on the west coast of Peru where the desert meets the Pacific ocean, combines history, natural beauty and adventure.

“After several successful editions in the high Andes, the GFNY Peru team is adding a race for riders who prefer a flat sea level course,” says GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “It’s driving distance to the capital Lima, yet a nature paradise – ideal for a GFNY.”

Race week activities will take place at Kite Club Paracas. It includes the fun GFNY Paracas group ride and the GFNY Kids race on Friday. On Saturday, riders will tackle a mostly flat course flanked on one side by the coastal desert and on the other side the amazing Pacific Ocean coastline. The main challenge of the day will be the winds.

GFNY riders, families and friends will get to experience the Paracas National Reserve which has over 100 archaeological sites of the distinctive pre-Inca Paracas culture and is a gateway to the Ballestas Islands, home to a wildlife paradise and ecosystem.
