Google’s Fitbit To Launch AI Health Coach as Personalized Wellness Goes Mainstream

August 20, 2025

Fitbit wants to be more than a tracker on your wrist. Starting this fall, it’s on board to become your trainer, sleep coach and everyday health advisor with a new artificial intelligence-powered personal health coach built on Google’s Gemini model for Fitbit Premium users.

To add weight to the launch, Fitbit says it partnered with NBA star Stephen Curry, his performance team and a Consumer Health Advisory Panel to help shape the technology.

The tech giant announced on its website that the feature, set to begin rolling out in October as a preview, will tailor recommendations using real-time metrics from Fitbit trackers, smartwatches and Pixel Watches. It can also connect with platforms like Health Connect and HealthKit to incorporate additional health and wellness data, such as weight and glucose levels.

Users can expect workout plans built around their goals, preferences and equipment, with adjustments based on readiness scores and daily insights. The coach can also check in throughout the day to adapt to changes, whether that means recovering after poor sleep or modifying a routine after an injury. Athletech News
