Frederick Running Festival Announces 2nd Charity Chaser

April 11, 2023

Frederick Officers will participate in Frederick Running Festival to Raise Funds for Local Charity for the second year in a row

April 11, 2023- Elkridge, MD /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – We are excited to continue the tradition of the Charity Chaser and funds raised for the “What Would Stew Dew Fund” at the Frederick Running Festival. For the second year in a row, two Frederick Police officers will participate in the Frederick Running Festival as the official Charity Chasers in the Team Relay Division. For every runner Sergeant Palkovic and Officer Tony Lawson pass, Corrigan Sports will donate $1 to the What Would Stew Dew Fund.

Lt. Andrew “Stew” Alcorn served the Frederick police department for more than 13 years. Stew unexpectedly passed away in the summer of 2021. To honor her late husband, Jennifer Alcorn created the ‘What Would Stew Dew Fund’ to support causes including assisting first responders and advocating for children.

CSE President Lee Corrigan said, “It’s an honor and we are proud to contribute to the “What Would Stew Dew Fund” In addition to honoring one of Fredericks’s dedicated police officers, we have a chance to benefit all the men and women of the Frederick Police Department who protect our city.”

“We are so grateful to have the Charity Chaser continue for a second year at the Frederick Running Festival,” said Jennifer Alcorn. “It is an honor that Corrigan Sports has chosen to partner and donate funds to the WWSD Memorial Fund again this year. This means so much that this significant event is playing a part in helping to continue Stew’s legacy by giving back to our first responders and supporting the community. Stew had become an avid runner, and triathlete in the years leading up to his untimely death, and this partnership is something I know would mean so much to him. Both Sgt. Palkovic and Ofc. Lawson have personal ties to Stew, and it means the world to have them both complete this run in his honor. We look forward to cheering them and all the runners on race day!”
