Fleet Feet Cincinnati, The Flying Pig Marathon, and ROAD iD Team Up for Runner Safety

March 31, 2022

Fleet Feet Runners Train and Race with Peace of Mind

/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Thanks to Fleet Feet Cincinnati and the Flying Pig Marathon, all participants in this spring’s Fleet Feet Flying Pig Marathon training program score a Fleet Feet Pin-Tuck ROAD iD and commemorative Flying Pig Marathon Badge.

“We are happy to partner with Fleet Feet to make sure all our participants will be safe while they are training for the Flying Pig,” said Iris Simpson Bush, CEO of Pig Works, the umbrella organization of the Flying Pig. “It’s just one more reason why we are so excited to be back to in-person events during our spring Flying Pig weekend.”

“Fleet Feet has always believed in giving back to the community and investing in the local runner, especially when it comes to runner safety,” said Frank DeJulius, owner of Fleet Feet Cincinnati. “ We are proud to once again put that belief into action with the help of ROAD iD and the Flying Pig Marathon through this initiative.”

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with two hometown organizations on something we are extraordinarily passionate about – fueling adventure and providing peace of mind,” said Edward Wimmer, co-founder and CEO of ROAD iD. “When you buy a bike, your next purchase is usually a helmet, so when you sign up for a race, adding a ROAD iD to your training gear is a simple way to get that same sense of extra safety. Frank and Iris are helping participants do just that. While we hope local runners never need to use their ROAD iDs, they’ll have all their information in one place just in case.”

ROAD iD offers these tips for Spring training, whether you walk, run, bike, or explore:

  • Be Visible. Wear bright clothes – neon is good.
  • Always run against traffic. Pick roads that have sidewalks or wide shoulders.
  • Pick a well-lit route and a known one.
  • Grab a buddy or train with a group – there’s strength and safety in numbers.
  • Always carry ID or wear a ROAD iD.
  • Ditch the headphones – music, podcasts and other distractions block the sound of cars.
  • Trust your instincts – if something feels unsafe trust your gut – especially in the dark, play it safe.

The 24th running of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend powered by P&G is April 29-May 1, 2022. Information and registration are available at www.flyingpigmarathon.com.

About ROAD iD

ROAD iD makes wearable identification for people on the go. Their mission is to make wearing ID as common as a seatbelt, and since 1999, they’ve provided peace of mind to millions of active individuals, empowering them to do what they love and worry less with their info on-hand.
