September 27, 2022

(Sept. 27, 2022) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Join the U.S. Association of Blind Athletes for National Blind Sports Week presented by Healthy Vision Association (Oct. 3-8), a six-day celebration focused on participation and awareness of sports and opportunities available to athletes who are blind and visually impaired. The week culminates with the 5th annual National Blind Sports Day on Saturday, Oct. 8.

National Blind Sports Week helps increase awareness for the abilities of, and opportunities available to, Americans with visual impairments. This year’s activities will feature Facebook Live panels with Paralympic athletes and leaders of national blindness organizations, with topics ranging from mental health and wellness, making fitness accessible, the Paralympic journey and the blind sports community.

In addition, USABA sport ambassadors will be taking over USABA social media channels as they share their favorite workouts and give a glimpse into their everyday lives as elite athletes.

“It is well known that individuals who have a vision impairment can live a higher-quality life when they participate in sports and fitness activities,” said USABA CEO Molly Quinn. “These activities help set goals, build work ethic, and contribute to a healthier lifestyle. We are once again thrilled to have Healthy Vision Association as our presenting sponsor for this annual celebration of National Blind Sports Week.”

One of USABA’s longtime partners, Healthy Vision Association (HVA) has supported some of the organization’s largest events over the years. In addition to National Blind Sports Week, HVA has also been a supporter of the USABA Marathon National Championships held in conjunction with the California International Marathon each December.

“We are once again honored to serve as presenting sponsor for USABA’s National Blind Sports Week,” said Healthy Vision Association President Richard Schindehette. “This annual celebration of fitness opportunities for Americans with visual impairments helps promote healthier lifestyles among the community and is something that Healthy Vision Association is also very dedicated to.”
