Economic Impact of The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon Tops $11.1 Million as Indy Gears up For Race Weekend
October 31, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS, October 30, 2025 – As the 18th annual CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental prepares to welcome thousands of participants to Indianapolis on Saturday, November 8, a new study shows the event generated more than $11.1 million in economic impact for the city during last year’s race weekend.
In partnership with Indiana University Public Policy Institute, Beyond Monumental, the 501(c)(3) non-profit that organizes the event, commissioned an updated economic impact analysis. The report attributes more than $11.1 million in direct economic return to the city from spending on hotels, dining, transportation, retail, event participation, and more; reinforcing the event’s role as both a national destination and a meaningful local asset.
“The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon is more than a race. It’s a force for wellness, youth empowerment, and positive change in Indianapolis,” said Jed Cornforth, President & CEO of Beyond Monumental. “Through our youth programs, community partnerships, and economic reach, Monumental Race Weekend uplifts local students and champions health and wellness at every stage of life.”
The 2024 event brought together over 16,000 participants to downtown Indy across the Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K distances, with runners representing all 50 states and more than 25 countries. This year, the excitement continues to build as the 2025 race sold out across all distances by mid-October, the earliest complete sellout in the event’s history, even with an increased capacity of more than 17,500 participants.
Race weekend kicks off with the Monumental Health & Fitness Expo, a two-day experience at the Indiana Convention Center featuring packet pickup, official race merchandise, sponsor activations, and more than 50 health and wellness vendors. On race day, the marathon, half marathon, and 5K will fill the streets of downtown Indianapolis, drawing spectators, volunteers, and community pride citywide.
Beyond Monumental’s mission extends far beyond race weekend. Through the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement presented by Indiana University Indianapolis, Beyond Monumental has donated over $1.6 million to support physical activity and wellness education for thousands of Marion County students. The program culminates each fall with the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids 5K, finishing on the field of Lucas Oil Stadium.
CNO Financial Group, the title sponsor of the marathon, celebrates its 10th year of partnership in 2025.
