Celebrate OC Festival Headlines Return of The SDCCU Orange County Marathon Running Festival

May 1st marks the first 26.2-marathon in 1,092 days following a 3-year pandemic pause

COSTA MESA, Calif., April 21, 2022/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – For the first time in a long time, 26.2-mile SDCCU Orange County Marathon Running Festival returns to Newport Beach and the OC Fair and Event Center April 29 – May 1, 2022.

Headlining the community’s comeback marathon will be the Celebrate OC Festival, a free, family-friendly festival showcasing the talent, tastes and trends that make Orange County and the surrounding areas the best place to live, work and play.

“Our residents have been through so much over these past two years, we couldn’t be more excited to bring everyone together for a fun family festival combined with the marathon to create one of Orange County’s biggest health and wellness event weekends,” said Gary Kutscher, race director of the SDCCU OC Marathon. “Community pride will be on full display and so will some of the best food and breweries that OC has to offer. We are looking forward to partnering with our iconic sports teams and local businesses to celebrate the return of a Spring marathon tradition you won’t want to miss.”

Held on Saturday of marathon weekend, the Celebrate OC Festival, will include activities provided by the Superbowl Champion Los Angeles Rams, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Galaxy, KIA America, and many more.

The day’s festivities commence with the Kids Run The OC “Final Mile” on Saturday morning. The afternoon will include a BMX demo, with 3 professional riders elevating their aerial tricks off multiple ramps. The Yaamava Resort and Casino at San Miguel Stage will be run by KROQ 106.7, with appearances by the Klein/Ally Show, DJ’s and surprise bands from Orange County.

The evening concludes with one of the coolest nighttime races in America, the CELEBRATE OC 5K taking place at 5:00pm. Runners can go for the “Combo Crush” by doing the 5K on Saturday and then finishing the marathon or half-marathon on Sunday to earn three medals by running two races.

Sunday’s main 26.2-mile event starts at 5:30am, with the Half Marathon starting at 6:15am, adjacent to the VEA, Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa just south of Santa Barbara Drive. The fast and flat course showcases the breathtaking panoramas Orange County coastline, exceptional views of the Pacific Ocean and thousands of cheering spectators lining the route. The race finishes at the OC Fair and Event Center just off the 55 Freeway in the heart of Costa Mesa.

The 18th annual SDCCU (San Diego County Credit Union) OC Marathon Running Festival returns the seaside streets of Orange County, California the weekend of April 29, 2022 – May 1 ,2022.  The SDCCU OC Running Festival is showcases two days of events, including the marathon, the OC Half Marathon, the OC 5K, and Kids Run the OC.
