Beleaguered New York City Triathlon Cancels 2024 Event. Organizers Tell Us Why.

In a fairly surprising move, Supertri (formerly Super League Triathlon), the new owners of the New York City Triathlon as of 2023, announced this week that the 2024 edition would be canceled before registration even opened.

One of the reasons is because the date falls on the fifth weekend in September, which doesn’t always exist. Another challenge concerns the tides in the Hudson River. Over all, it is hard to pin down a good day. Triathlete
