Unique Residential Format Makes Professional Lifestyle Available to Everyday Runners

Flagstaff, AZ /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Celebrated endurance sports author Matt Fitzgerald today announced the upcoming launch of Dream Run Camp. The new venture was inspired by Fitzgerald’s experience as a self-described “fake pro runner” in 2017, when he spent a full summer training with the Flagstaff-based HOKA Northern Arizona Elite team before racing the Chicago Marathon as an honorary pro, recording a personal best time of 2:39:30 at age forty-six. Fitzgerald chronicled his experience in the acclaimed book Running the Dream.

Unlike traditional adult running retreats, Dream Run Camp features a unique rolling-attendance format, where individual runners are free to arrive anytime between May 1 and November 30 and stay for up to twelve weeks. The camp is hosted at a newly built five-bedroom house located in the Coconino Forest, just outside of downtown Flagstaff. Amenities include a full gym, a recovery lounge, a spa pool with underwater treadmill, and in-person coaching from Fitzgerald himself, who occupies an attached guest house on the property. The minimum stay is one week.

“I created Dream Run Camp because I believe that all runners who have a genuine passion for their sport, regardless of ability, should have the opportunity to see how far they can go,” Fitzgerald said. “Traditional running camps are great, but there’s only so much one can accomplish in a few days. My own running was completely transformed during the time I spent with NAZ Elite, and I want the same for Dream Runners.”

While at Dream Run Camp, runners will have regular opportunities to interact and run with NAZ Elite and work with the team’s coaches and support staff, including injury experts, dietitians, and massage therapists. Said NAZ Elite executive director Ben Rosario, with whom Fitzgerald coauthored the book Run Like a Pro (Even If You’re Slow), “Dream Run Camp offers the chance of a lifetime for runners of all ability levels to immerse themselves in the Flagstaff professional runner’s lifestyle. At NAZ Elite, we’re excited to meet Dream Runners throughout the year and provide a real-life, behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be a pro runner.”

A number of major running brands have stepped up to support Dream Run Camp, including elliptical bike manufacturer ElliptiGO, performance eyewear maker ENGO, sports nutrition online retailer The Feed, and recovery brand Hyperice.
