“Altra believes in the power of women,” said Shanna Burnette, Head of Altra’s Global Community and Partnerships. “We stand behind &Mother’s mission to shape positive dialogue and to challenge the stereotypical view of working moms. Together we are thrilled to co-host a virtual 5K to bring awareness and support for mothers everywhere.”

“Mother’s Day is all about celebrating the mothers in our lives, but why stop there? Let’s celebrate the ways we can all step up for mothers who choose to pursue and thrive in career and motherhood by advocating for support, combating maternal bias and collectively working to normalize motherhood,” added Molly Dickens, Co-Founder and Executive Director of &Mother.

“It is great to be co-hosting this race with Altra. As a brand, Altra is beautifully mission-aligned with &Mother – leading the way by recognizing and championing the value of “and mother” -hood as demonstrated by signing multiple pregnant athletes (including myself) in the last couple of years,” shared Alysia Montaño, Altra Elite Athlete and Co-Founder of &Mother. “As a Founding Community Sponsor of &Mother, Altra’s support in co-hosting the Mom Forward 5K allows us to put most race registration revenue towards advancing the &Mother mission.”

About &Mother

Building on the momentum of the #DreamMaternity movement, a call for action and awareness around the lack of sponsor support for female athletes choosing to become mothers during their athletic careers, &Mother was founded to transition the movement to impact across industries. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, &Mother aims to support a woman’s choice to pursue career and motherhood while enabling mothers to become the driving force restructuring a system that has historically dismissed, undervalued, and discriminated against them. Their first initiative centers on creating cultural and structural change within the sports industry. Join the community on Instagram and Twitter and connect with us at www.andmother.org.
