April 15, 2025

Jill Kintner and Asa Vermette crowned winners in Downhill Elite Final; Kids and families take center stage on Family Day
Monterey, CA (April 15, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The fourth and final day of the 2025 Life Time Sea Otter Classic presented by Continental culminated with the Downhill Elite Finals, while a host of family-orientated activities inspired the next generation of riders and fans.
Family-friendly
Kids aged 12 and under always receive free entry to the festival, but today’s Family Day offered complimentary admission for up to two accompanying adults as well.
Kicking off the morning, the Family Off-Road Tour debuted a brand-new course for 2025, giving cyclists young and old the chance to ride together on a scenic 10.7-mile loop that started on Fort Ord’s fire roads and finished with a taste of singletrack. With flexible return options, it was an ideal way to get the whole family involved.
The final Kids’ Race of the weekend took place at 1pm, wrapping up four days of exciting competition designed to stretch skills and build confidence. These free daily races required no registration; just a festival wristband and a helmet. Held in the Family Zone and divided by age category, the events made every child feel like a winner.
This year’s Family Zone was bigger and better than ever, offering young riders a dedicated area to develop their bike skills on a range of age- and ability-appropriate obstacles. The space and thoughtfully designed programming create the perfect environment for youth to build confidence and challenge their boundaries, setting them up for success as they take on new challenges at the Sea Otter Classic year after year.
Elite Downhill delivers a thrilling finale to gravity competition
The Women’s Downhill Elite Final brought a thrilling spectacle to the course, as a stacked field pushed the pace from top to bottom. In the end, it was Jill Kintner who claimed victory.
Meanwhile, it was Asa Vermette who took the top spot in the Elite Men’s competition. A fan-favorite race at the Life Time Sea Otter Classic, the Downhill Finals always attracts a spectator-lined course.
Fuego Short – brings out the best in the Juniors
With a new course for 2025, the Fuego Short presented by Specialized offered Junior riders the chance to experience the iconic terrain that defines the Sea Otter Classic’s cross-country racing. Cyclists aged 12 and under tackled a six-mile loop, with 682 feet of elevation through the Fort Ord National Monument. View race results here.
Frank Yohannan, Founder and Event Director of the Life Time Sea Otter Classic, said: “The 2025 Life Time Sea Otter Classic presented by Continental has been one for the ages — our biggest expo yet, record numbers across races and recreational rides, and an atmosphere that truly created a celebration of cycling.
“We’ve seen world-class performances from elite racers, and also thousands of cyclists of all ages and backgrounds coming together to ride; from first-time kids racing in the Family Zone to seasoned vets in the Life Time Grand Prix.
“What makes Sea Otter so special is that sense of connection — between brands and riders, pros and fans, families and friends. It’s been a phenomenal four days, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve all built together. We’re already looking forward to 2026.”
