QUITO, Ecuador / TAMPA, Fla. (June 5, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series has announced Quito, Ecuador as its newest host city, marking an exciting expansion of Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series into South America. Set at an elevation of 2,850 meters above sea level, the Marathon Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Quito will bring a one-of-a-kind endurance experience to the region, combining the challenge of high-altitude racing with the energy of live music and the rich cultural backdrop of Ecuador’s capital city.

With the first edition scheduled for November 22, 2026, the inaugural event will welcome runners to the streets of Quito, guiding participants along the city’s iconic avenues before culminating in a finish at the historic Plaza San Francisco. Located in the heart of Quito’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Historic Center, the finish line offers one of the most breathtaking urban backdrops in the Americas, surrounded by centuries-old colonial architecture and the dramatic Andes Mountains.

The 2026 edition will feature 10K and Half Marathon (21K) distances, providing opportunities for runners of all abilities, from first-time participants to experienced runners seeking the unique challenge of altitude. Designed to be inclusive, the event will welcome individuals, families, running clubs, and corporate teams to take part in this milestone debut.

“Bringing the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series to Quito is a milestone for ANDESPORTS and for Ecuador’s endurance sports community. This event represents much more than a race; it is an opportunity to showcase our capital city to the world through its history, culture, music, altitude, and the warmth of its people. We are proud to help create an experience that will welcome runners of all levels and celebrate Quito as one of the most unique running destinations in Latin America,” said Marialuz Arellano, Director of ANDESPORTS.

Participants can expect a dynamic course that weaves through Quito’s most emblematic streets, showcasing the city’s architectural beauty and natural surroundings. True to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series spirit, live music stages and on-course entertainment will energize runners at every kilometer, while interactive activations and spectator-friendly zones create a festival atmosphere that extends well beyond race day.

Race weekend will culminate with a high-energy finish line festival and live concert at Plaza San Francisco, where athletes, spectators, and the local community will come together to celebrate the fusion of sport, music, and culture in one unforgettable experience.

The addition of Quito further expands the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series footprint in Latin America, highlighting the region’s growing demand for world-class endurance events that blend running with immersive cultural experiences.

“We are proud to expand the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series into Ecuador with the addition of Quito, a city that offers an extraordinary blend of history, culture, and natural beauty,” said Joanna Jordan, Vice President – Managing Director, Latin America for The IRONMAN Group. “At 2,850 meters above sea level, this event introduces a truly unique challenge within our global series, while showcasing one of the most iconic capitals in South America.
