Ecuador opens the 2026 GFNY race season

February 26, 2026 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This Sunday, the inaugural GFNY Salinas will officially open the 2026 GFNY race season, bringing GFNY racing back to Ecuador’s Pacific coast.

GFNY Salinas will be contested on a 110.8 km course with 878 meters of climbing. The race starts and finishes at Cerro El Morro in the center of Salinas, offering riders sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and a distinctive coastal setting.

Race week activities will be based at Salón Hotel Presidente and include a Pasta Fest on Friday evening at 7:00 pm, followed by a relaxed group ride on Saturday that allows riders to preview the area together ahead of race day.

On Sunday, participants will race along sections of the Spondylus Route, passing beaches, mangroves, fishing villages, and rural landscapes. The course features continuous ocean views and highlights the contrast between sand, sea, and tropical vegetation that defines Ecuador’s coastline.
