Senate Bill S4834 introduces new insurance requirements for e-bikes that fall outside New Jersey’s definition of Class 1 and Class 2 low-speed electric bicycles, aligning them more closely with the state’s motorized bicycle framework. Riders operating these e-bikes on public roads are now required to carry liability insurance meeting minimum coverage thresholds.
