Supertri transformed the Exhibition Grounds into a world-class course with audiences watching from the sidelines.
July 31, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Supertri kicked off its 2025 season in Toronto this past weekend, delivering two days of high-intensity swimming, biking, and running to redefine triathlon in Canada. Energizing the city on Saturday, the world’s top triathletes and Olympic champions competed in the elite Supertri League race, followed by the Toronto Triathlon By Supertri mass participation race on Sunday, where thousands of amateurs went head to head. Both events offered fast, technical, and spectator-friendly racing, turning the city into a world-class triathlon course.
Saturday’s League race marked Supertri’s debut showcase in Canada, bringing fanfare and highlight-reel performances to the shores of Lake Ontario and Exhibition Place. The Toronto route was open, fast, and featured an electric crowd cheering after every turn. Brownlee Racing swept the podium, taking home first place in both the women’s and men’s races, with Belgium’s Jolien Vermeylen impressing in her Supertri debut, and Britain’s World and Olympic champion Alex Yee celebrating yet another victory.
“This weekend marked a significant milestone as we introduced Supertri in Canada for the first time,” said Michael D’hulst, CEO and Co-founder of Supertri. “We witnessed an incredible turnout for both the elite and mass participation races, leaving people feeling inspired and motivated by the events. It’s only our first year running the Toronto Triathlon, and I see tremendous potential for growth in the sport and community in the years ahead.”
Sunday’s Toronto Triathlon By Supertri garnered an impressive turnout, becoming the largest race weekend in the event’s 12-year history by an increase of 20 per cent. With more than 3,000 participants competing across the triathlon and 10KTO races, the festival saw an impressive mix of participants from across 26 countries, ranging from 10 years old to 86 years old. Through corporate fundraising, the event generated nearly $50,000 in vital funds for SickKids Hospital.
