25th Annual Air Force Marathon ‘Blue Mile’ honors service and sacrifice

July 7, 2021

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The Blue Mile is back this year paying tribute to fallen service members and their sacrifice at the 25th Annual Air Force Marathon and the Race to 75, the official kickoff to the 75th Air Force Anniversary.

As the most patriotic mile of the marathon and half marathon course, the Blue Mile sets the standard for remembering those who previously served to defend our country. The “Race to 75” reminds us Airmen will always be there to provide America with the airpower it needs to defend the nation, deter or defeat our adversaries, reassure our allies, and help diplomacy proceed from a position of strength.

“It is a great honor to once again partner with the Blue Mile at the 25th Anniversary Air Force Marathon,” said Brandon Hough, AF Marathon director. “The Blue Mile is a reminder to our participants that they’re running for something larger than themselves and able to do so because of those who gave all.”

Half marathon and marathon participants will have the honor of running the Blue Mile while others exhibit their tribute along the side of the mile.

“wear blue: run to remember is excited to return to the Air Force Marathon as they celebrate their 25th Anniversary,” said Ron Witherup, director of Race Operations at wear blue: run to remember. “Our partnership allows an exceptional, and historic, opportunity to honor our fallen and show our support to our men and women in uniform through the wear blue Mile. We’re proud to be part of the race and are looking forward to September!”
