“Run to Honor” documentary spotlights the 2015 origins and purpose of the event
MOBILE, Ala. (November 14, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ — The 10th Anniversary Publix Battleship 12K is officially sold out and will welcome a record field to Mobile, Alabama on Sunday, November 16, reaffirming its status as the largest running event in Mobile. Created in 2015 to honor the service and sacrifice of U.S. military members and their families, the 12-kilometer point-to-point race brings participants across the bay to a powerful, patriotic finish at USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park.
To mark the milestone year, race organizers have released “Run to Honor,” a short-form documentary that captures the inspiration behind the event and the stories that continue to fuel it a decade later. The film is available now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/-0zoMCU44PI.
“From day one, the vision for the Battleship 12K was simple but profound: run to honor,” said Michael Wattigny, Founder & Marketing Director for FRESHJUNKIE Racing, the producers of the event. “Ten years later, seeing thousands of athletes, families, and veterans come together at the Battleship is as moving as ever. Selling out the 10th anniversary shows just how deeply this community embraces that mission.”
