100%® chooses Challenged Athletes Foundation as First Charitable Partner

August 24, 2020

Multi-year partnership brings together two San Diego organizations to support athletes from a wide range of sports.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – August 24, 2020– 100%® has announced that it is the official Global Eyewear Partner of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). Late last year, the two San Diego-based organizations worked side by side to support athletes competing and training in everything from endurance sports to baseball. Earlier this year, 100% formalized its partnership with CAF and is committed to empowering the dreams of challenged athletes around the world.

“I was first introduced to CAF a few years ago by my friend and CAF Ambassador Bill Walton,” said 100% CEO Ludo Boinnard. “I witnessed first-hand their passion and all-out effort in supporting so many athletes with physical challenges. I knew 100% needed to support that mission. Our entire team is inspired by these incredible athletes, and we’re honored to help them give 100%.”

The partnership was officially launched this spring, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a number of fundraising events were canceled and the partnership has transitioned from live to virtual events. 100% is proud to be part of the 2020 CAF Community Challenge, which began last week and runs through October 18. The challenge encourages participants to “run, cycle, roll or walk millions of miles to raise millions of dollars and empower countless dreams.” Over $400,000 has been raised since the launch of the virtual challenge. The TEAM 100% challenge week will run from August 29 through September 4. Sign up to take part here.

“While it’s not possible to stage our flagship community fundraising weekend in San Diego as we have done the past 26 years, it remains crucial for us to bring our community together with an athletic challenge and a common purpose,” said Bob Babbitt, CAF Co-Founder. “The Community Challenge is all about giving 100% from now through October 18 to raise critical funds, so it’s absolutely perfect that 100% has stepped up as a global partner.”

As part of the partnership, 100% will also be debuting a Peter Sagan Limited Edition 24-karat goldSpeedtrap®. The seven-time Tour de France green jersey winner has been a longtime supporter of CAF and together, we have conceived a real breathtaking 24-karat gold-coated performance lens. Only 50 of these one-of-a-kind sunglasses will be produced, with proceeds benefiting CAF.

“CAF has been close to my heart because I believe in their mission and I’ve witnessed firsthand how they empower challenged athletes to achieve their dreams,” Sagan said. “Nothing can empower people quite like riding a bike, and that’s why I’m so proud to support CAF and help ensure that everyone can get out there.”

100% believes that, regardless of physical limitations, all athletes should be able to give their all. 100% and CAF are proud to be #100PercentTogether to help athletes from all walks of sport. That includes the inspiring athletes of CAF, like motocross racer-turned-Ironman triathlete Ricky James (pictured with Supercross Champion, Cooper Webb). Together, working with athletes like Ricky and the entire CAF roster, 100% is committed to help athletes #SeeMoreofWhatMatters.
