Where Endurance Meets Altitude: 2025 Life Time Leadville Race Series Kicks Off June 28

June 24, 2025

Thousands of cyclists and runners descend on “The Two Mile High City” for five weekends of iconic races

Leadville, Colo. (June 24, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Life Time (NYSE: LTH), the nation’s premier healthy lifestyle brand and producer of nearly 30 iconic athletic events, returns to the picturesque Colorado Rockies on June 28th for the kick off of the 2025 Life Time Leadville Race Series. Spanning five weekends through June, July, and August, the Series welcomes runners and cyclists from around the globe to take on the iconic high-altitude trails and rugged terrain of Leadville, Colorado.

The Leadville Race Series began in 1983 with 45 runners and a 100-mile trek through the rugged Rocky Mountain terrain. It is since become a world-renowned event series annually testing athlete’s “Grit, Guts and Determination” both on foot and in the saddle. This year, nearly 8,000 athletes plus spectators, support crews and media will experience Leadville’s passion for community and legendary spirit of resilience firsthand. Life Time Leadville Race Series events include:

Saturday, June 28: Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva

The nation’s toughest marathon takes runners to the highest point of any Leadville Race Series event: Mosquito Pass. The out-and-back course reaches 13,185 feet at its highest point, with an elevation gain of more than 6,000 feet. Reaching the same high point, the Heavy Half is 15.4 miles, with an elevation gain of nearly 3,500 feet. The Leadville Trail Marathon serves as a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 Run.

Saturday, July 12 – Sunday, July 13: Life Time Silver Rush 50 Run presented by La Sportiva and Life Time Leadville Silver Rush 50 MTB presented by Kenetik

Runners take on the 50-mile course on July 12, and cyclists on July 13. With 8,000 feet of elevation gain, the 50-mile run and MTB races both act as qualifying events for the Leadville Trail 100s. Participating in both 50-mile Silver Rush events gives athletes the opportunity to claim the title of Silver King and Silver Queen. In addition to the 50-mile races, the weekend boasts a 15-mile run and MTB races, as well as a 5K juniors run.

Friday, July 25 – Sunday, July 27: Life Time Leadville Stage Race presented by Kenetik

A qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB, the Leadville Stage Race tackles the same 100-mile course, broken up over three days of racing. The stages include 40-miles, 22-miles, and 41-miles, each with more than 4,000 feet of elevation gain.

Saturday, August 9 – Sunday, August 10: Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB presented by Kenetik and Life Time Leadville Trail 10K presented by La Sportiva

The Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB is one of the most prestigious endurance cross-country mountain bike events in the world. Also the third stop for the Life Time Grand Prix, the race features steep and technical ascents and descents, including the storied Columbine and Powerline sections, and an elevation gain of over 12,000 feet.

Following one of the longest events, the weekend rounds out with the shortest race of the Series, the Life Time Leadville Trail 10K. Cast against Leadville’s breathtaking mountain backdrop, the 10K crosses the same gravel roads as the infamous Leadville Trail 100 Run course, covering the first and final 3.1 miles of the Race Across the Sky.

Saturday, August 16: Life Time Leadville Trail 100 Run presented by La Sportiva

The Leadville Trail 100 Run is one of the oldest and most iconic endurance running events in the world, and the event that started the Leadville Race Series. The ultramarathon features the steep climbs of Powerline, high-altitude passes like Hope Pass, and technical terrain on the Colorado Trail, all amounting to over 15,000 feet of elevation gain, most of which is experienced at an altitude of over 10,000 feet.

In addition to the lineup of endurance races, The Race Across the Sky Expo takes place during both the LT100 MTB and Run weekends, in downtown Leadville. The event is free and open to the public with product demos, swag opportunities, live podcasts and panels, group rides and runs, and beer and food vendors in celebration of the two of the most iconic endurance events.

This year, 120 athletes will line up for five of the Series’ events – the Leadville Trail Marathon, a Silver Rush 50 event, the Leadville Trail 100 MTB, the Leadville 10K and the Leadville Trail 100 Run – in hopes of finishing and claiming the title of Lead Challenge finisher. The Lead Challenge is not for the faint of heart and covers 282.4 miles, all at 10,000+ feet of Rocky Mountain elevation.

Hundreds of athletes will head to Leadville in the name of a greater cause through one of the Series’ eight charity partners. This includes 56 athletes who will be representing the Life Time Foundation, raising money to support a healthy planet and youth nutrition and movement.
