We Out Here Trail Fest Now on Movemint
February 20, 2026

Built with first-timers in mind, the festival creates an inclusive, community-driven entry point into the sport.
San Francisco, CA /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – We Out Here Trail Festival is a welcoming trail race and weekend gathering created specifically for people curious about trail running but who may have never toed a trail start-line before. Now launching on Movemint, the event takes place June 12–14 at the traditional homelands of the Coast Salish People (St. Edwards State Park) and is designed to make trail racing feel accessible, supportive, and community-driven.
Built with first-timers in mind, We Out Here removes many of the traditional barriers associated with trail racing. According to the We Out Here leaders, 66% of participants in 2025 identified as first-time trail runners, highlighting the event’s role as an accessible entry point into the sport rather than a test of experience. Multiple distance options and a looped course allow runners to choose their level of participation while staying connected to spectators and fellow athletes throughout the race.
Moreover, while ALL runners are enthusiastically welcomed, We Out Here extends a warm invitation to individuals from underrepresented communities – including Black people, people of color, and people of all races and ethnic identities who have never participated in a trail race before – to join them in making this a truly inclusive event.
“We Out Here Trail Fest is for everyone, but in particular, it’s for anyone who felt they didn’t belong in trail running or anyone who has never tried it. This event is built with you in mind. We invite you to register for the race and experience what it’s like to go trail running with a community that has your back,” said co-founder Alison Mariella Désir.
The festival experience goes beyond the race, offering opportunities for both runners and non-runners to connect, celebrate, and be part of the community throughout the weekend. Participants can enjoy social gatherings, movement sessions, storytelling, workshops, and other ways to engage with the trails and each other.
We Out Here Trail Fest is led by Alison Mariella Désir and Aaliyah Earvin, whose canonical work in running and endurance sports has been revolutionary in creating inclusive pathways for first-time and underrepresented runners. Alison Mariella Désir, author of Running While Black, founded Harlem Run, the Running Industry Diversity Coalition, and Women of Color Take the Lead Retreat, and hosts the PBS show Out and Back with Alison Mariella Désir. Aaliyah Earvin, a certified personal trainer and run coach, leads North of Seattle Run Club and Aaliyah Earvin Coaching, offering clinics and content tailored to runners. Together, they are pushing endurance sports forward by making the trails welcoming, accessible, and supportive for all.
