WashU Medicine Named Official Medical Provider of Greater St. Louis Marathon Race Weekend

ST. LOUIS (March 19, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ — GO! St. Louis is proud to announce WashU Medicine as the Official Medical Provider for the Greater St. Louis Marathon race weekend, strengthening the event’s commitment to athlete safety, community wellness and world-class race operations. Registration spots are still open.
As the region’s premier running event prepares to welcome more than 12,000 participants across multiple race distances on Saturday, April 11, 2026, WashU Medicine will lead medical planning and on-course care for runners, volunteers and spectators throughout race weekend.
WashU Medicine is one of the nation’s leading academic medical institutions, recognized for excellence in patient care, medical education and research, providing comprehensive care across the St. Louis region and beyond. WashU Medicine’s expertise in sports medicine, emergency care and community health makes it a natural collaborator for one of the Midwest’s largest endurance events.
“Our Sports Medicine physicians are experts in helping runners reach their goals on race day and treating injuries if they arise,” said Katherine Caldwell, MD, WashU Medicine assistant professor of Orthopedic Surgery, Physiatry Division, and Official Medical Director of the Greater St. Louis Marathon. “We understand the unique demands of running and are excited to support the region’s athletes with research-driven care before, during, and after the Greater St. Louis Marathon.”

As Official Medical Provider, WashU Medicine will coordinate medical operations including on-course aid stations, finish line medical support and emergency response planning. The collaboration reflects a shared mission to promote healthy, active lifestyles and strengthen the wellbeing of the St. Louis community.
The Greater St. Louis Marathon offers a full 26.2-mile marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and 1-mile family fun run. Participants will experience scenic views, energetic neighborhood support and a finish-line celebration that highlights the spirit of St. Louis.
