LOUISVILLE, KY/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Louisville Triple Crown of Running, part of USA TODAY NETWORK Ventures and Ventures Endurance Events, presented by The Courier Journal announced today that the University of Louisville has been named the exclusive title sponsor of the Louisville 10-Mile race. The event will be officially named The University of Louisville 10-Mile.
As part of the three-year agreement, the University of Louisville will collaborate with the Louisville Triple Crown of Running on race branding, fan engagement, alumni participation initiatives, and expanded programming throughout race weekend.
The partnership further strengthens the connection between Louisville’s premier running series and the city’s flagship university. The University of Louisville 10-Mile will take place on Saturday, April 4, starting outside iconic Churchill Downs and finishing on the 50-yard line at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, home of Louisville Football.
This year’s event also introduces a new 8K distance, created as a nod to former Louisville football icon and retired jersey number, 8. The addition celebrates Louisville pride and Cardinal tradition while offering a shorter, fast-paced option for runners seeking a spirited race-day experience. Families can also participate in Louie’s Dash, a kids’ run designed to inspire the next generation of runners and Cards fans.
“We are thrilled to welcome the University of Louisville as the title sponsor of our 10-mile race and to expand race weekend with new distances that welcome even more participants,” said Dan Lakin, race director of the Louisville Triple Crown of Running. “From the 10-Mile to the new 8K and Louie’s Dash, this year’s event celebrates Louisville pride, community, and Cardinal spirit. We’re excited to invite alumni, students, faculty, families, and fans to be part of a truly unique race experience.”
“The University of Louisville is proud to be the title sponsor of an event that so perfectly reflects the spirit of our city,” said University of Louisville President Dr. Gerry Bradley. “The Louisville Triple Crown of Running brings together community, wellness, and Cardinal pride in a way that is uniquely Louisville. From finishing on the field at L&N Stadium to welcoming families through Louie’s Dash, this partnership allows us to celebrate lifelong Cardinal connections while encouraging people of all ages to get active and experience our campus in a truly special way.”
“In our athletic department, we believe our role extends well beyond competition,” adds Josh Heird, UofL’s Vice President and Director of Athletics. “Supporting events like the University of Louisville 10-Mile is part of our broader commitment to community wellness here in Louisville — creating opportunities for people to move, connect, and build healthy habits. Most know President Bradley and I are avid runners ourselves, and when we can open our facilities, engage our student-athletes and staff, and help activate our city around fitness and well-being, that’s living out a key part of our mission.”
The University of Louisville 10-Mile and 8K offer participants a rare opportunity to finish inside one of the city’s most recognizable venues, creating memorable moments for runners of all levels. Alumni and supporters are encouraged to lace up, represent the red and black, and take part in a race weekend that blends athletic challenge, school pride, and community celebration.
