Thousands of Runners Cross the Finish Line at Sold Out Life Time Chicago Half Marathon & 5K

Participants hit the pavement on Chicago’s Southside for the 28th annual event

CHICAGO (September 28, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 28^th annual Life Time Chicago Half Marathon & 5K brought nearly 10,000 runners to the city’s South Side on Sunday morning, transforming Lake Shore Drive into a celebration of endurance and community.

Participants from all 50 states and 41 countries took part in the event, which included the 13.1-mile Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids Run Chicago for ages 2 to 12. The oldest runner on course was 83 years old, proving that the spirit of the race spans generations.

The race’s signature course began in Historic Jackson Park, guiding runners north along Lake Michigan with sweeping views of the Chicago skyline. After the turnaround, athletes made their way south on Lake Shore Drive, passing through storied neighborhoods like Kenwood and Hyde Park.

Race weekend kicked off with a vibrant Pre-Race Party at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall, where runners picked up their packets and enjoyed live music, food, drinks, and interactive sponsor activations. The festive atmosphere set the tone for a memorable weekend of racing and celebration.

The Chicago Half Marathon & 5K is the second of two events that make up the Life Time Chicago Half Marathon Series. Runners who completed both events this year earned a third medal to recognize their achievement.
