The 48th San Francisco Marathon Celebrates 33,000 Runners, Sold Out Full Marathon and Epic Finishers

San Francisco, CA – [July 27, 2025] /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Today, the San Francisco Marathon announced the successful conclusion of the 2025 event. The event, which saw over 33,000 registrations from all 50 states and numerous countries, underscored the vibrant spirit of the running community and the enduring appeal of San Francisco’s iconic course. The Full Marathon sold out, the first time this occurred in the race’s history.
“The turnout and incredible energy of this year’s runners of the San Francisco Marathon and their supporters showed how impactful this race is for people across the world,” said Lauri Abrahamsen, Race Director. “The commitment of the runners, the dedication of our team, and the unwavering support of the San Francisco community truly made this an unforgettable event. The 2025 marathon featured an ultramarathon, full marathon, two half marathons, 10K, 5K, and more, accommodating runners of all ages and abilities. The scenic route, renowned for its challenging hills and breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Presidio Park, and Karl the Fog, provided a unique experience for all participants.

Over 1200 volunteers contributed to ensure the smooth operation of the race, providing support and encouragement to runners along the course.
Planning for the 49th San Francisco Marathon is already underway, with organizers aiming to further enhance the participant experience and community involvement. Dates for next year’s race will be July 25-26, 2026.
