Sprint finish at GFNY Colonia- Uruguay

November 5, 2025

Mariana García and Lucas Gaday win the fifth edition

New York City, November 5, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The historic city of Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uruguay, hosted the fifth edition of GFNY Colonia–Uruguay this past Sunday under perfect weather conditions. The long course covered 124.9 km with 893 meters of climbing.

A peloton of fifty riders quickly formed at the front. On the 3 km climb of Cerro San Juan, twenty riders got dropped while defending champion and GFNY Punta del Este 2025 winner Ítalo Jr. Feletti (Brazil) was where he wanted to be to win.

Uruguay’s typical spring winds were present but less influential than in previous editions. While crosswinds emerged on the return section, they lacked their usual force.

With 35 km to go, Lucas Gaday (Argentina) and Feletti after several attacks ultimately broke clear from the lead group. Feletti repeatedly tried to shake off Gaday, but the Argentine remained composed and firmly held his wheel.

In an electrifying final sprint, Gaday took the win in 03:09:01, narrowly edging Feletti, while Roberto Rodríguez (Brazil) completed the men’s podium.

In the women’s race, Mariana García (Colnago’s Team Uruguay) delivered a dominant performance, taking victory in 03:12:32, just 3 minutes behind the male champion and an impressive 19 minutes ahead of three-time GFNY defending champion Cecilia Caillabet. Julieta Moyano (Argentina) rounded out the podium.

Next up on the GFNY calendar is the second edition of GFNY Bahamas which will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Cycling – Pro Racing

At Gran Premio New York City, professional teams race the same course as riders at the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC – but with a 10-minute head start. The third edition will be held on May 17, 2026.

Adding a women’s pro race would elevate the event further. The proposed format would have women starting 45 minutes ahead of the men’s pro race, giving them their own stage. However, the extended road closures required for this addition increase costs by $100,000.

For those interested in supporting women’s racing, GFNY is inviting companies and organizations to help sponsor this important addition. Contact GFNY to discuss partnership opportunities.
