January 13, 2026

Following a milestone 2025 season, SDRC continues its momentum with double-digit growth and expanding community impact

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (January 13, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ — San Diego Running Co. (SDRC), producer of some of Southern California’s most iconic endurance events, launched the 2026 running season with record participation at the San Diego Resolution Run, marking an 11% year-over-year increase and the event’s largest turnout to date. This strong start follows the incredible growth of SDRC’s 2025 race season, which saw significant increases in participation, expanded partnerships, and a deepening commitment to connecting runners through shared experiences.

Across its signature events in 2025 — including not only the San Diego Resolution Run, but also the San Diego Leprechaun Run, Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K, O’side Turkey Trot, and the San Diego Santa Run — SDRC welcomed 26,482 runners, representing 49 states and 30 countries. The company’s consistent growth has made it one of the fastest-growing independent race organizers in the U.S., achieving a 46% increase in total registrations over the past 3 years.

“We’re proud to see not only the numbers grow, but also the incredible diversity of participants and the sense of community that continues to define our events,” said Eric Marenburg, Co-Founder and Chief Running Officer of San Diego Running Co. “Our goal has always been to make running in San Diego fun, accessible, and meaningful for everyone — and 2025 was a great reflection of that mission.”

Event Spotlights: Growth and Celebration

From Thanksgiving mornings to beachside finish lines, SDRC’s 2025 season delivered sold-out races and unforgettable moments:

  • San Diego Leprechaun Run: This St. Paddy’s Day favorite continued its rise with 68% growth since 2022, kicking off the Run PB Challenge and drawing runners from across the region.
  • Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K: Making its debut as a two-day event in 2025, the PB Half welcomed record participation along its scenic shoreline course. With 73% growth since 2022, it has quickly become the second-largest summer or fall half marathon in San Diego — an impressive feat in just four years since its launch.
  • O’side Turkey Trot: The 2025 edition marked the 20th year of Oceanside tradition, the Trot continues to rank among the nation’s largest Thanksgiving races with steady 5% year-over-year growth since SDRC took the reins, benefiting over 100 local schools and nonprofits.
  • San Diego Santa Run: The city’s most festive 5K saw its third consecutive year of 20%+ growth, marking an 86% overall increase since 2022. Over 8,000 Santas filled the streets of Pacific Beach, earning the event its third straight USA Today Best Fun Run title.

Community and Partnerships

Beyond the finish line, SDRC continues to champion community wellness and local impact. In 2025, the company announced a new partnership with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, designating it as the primary nonprofit beneficiary of the O’side Turkey Trot. Participant donations helped provide full Thanksgiving meals for local families in need.

“We’ve always believed that our events are about more than miles — they’re about community,” said Christy LaLanne, Marketing Director at SDRC. “From charity partnerships to our growing group sales program, we’re creating ways for people and organizations to connect through movement.”

Looking Ahead to 2026

With a new year ahead, SDRC is expanding its efforts to engage San Diego’s running community year-round. The 2026 event calendar will feature new initiatives to support group participation, sustainability efforts, and partnerships that elevate the runner experience.

“We’re incredibly proud of what our team and community have built together,” said Pete Hess, Co-Founder and President of SDRC. “Our growth shows the strength of San Diego’s running culture — and we’re just getting started.”
