Runners Toast Success at the 2025 Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon

Post-race Wine & Music Festival in Solvang Park featured tastings from over a dozen local wineries
Solvang, California (May 13, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The streets of Solvang came alive with cheers, clinking wine glasses, and the steady rhythm of thousands of running feet on Saturday, May 10, as the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon returned for its 18th edition. With perfect weather and postcard-worthy views, the event delivered a magical experience through the scenic Santa Ynez Valley, capping off Mother’s Day weekend with athletic achievement and wine country charm.
Josef Gertner of Orcutt, CA, took top honors in the men’s race, crossing the finish line in 1:13:50 after powering through the 13.1-mile course that wound past windmills, vineyards, and rolling hills. Gertner’s impressive performance held off strong challenges from Matt Scurria (1:16:35) and Chris Gregory (1:16:56), who finished second and third respectively.
On the women’s side, Amanda Lankford, 43, of Simi Valley, CA, claimed victory with a time of 1:30:47, showcasing both experience and determination on a course known for its picturesque beauty and deceptively tough terrain. She was followed closely by Heather Montgomery (1:32:32) and Lisa Gibbs (1:33:41) to round out the women’s podium.

Runners who crossed the finish line were greeted by a lively Wine & Music Festival in Solvang Park, featuring tastings from over a dozen local wineries, live music, and local culinary delights.
In addition to the traditional half marathon, the event also featured a two-person relay option, drawing first-time participants and seasoned athletes alike for a weekend that blended competition with celebration.
