Run Rabbit Run Announces Record-Breaking Prize Purse and Competitive Elite Field for 2025
August 27, 2025

Runners are ready to toe the line as Run Rabbit Run enters one of its most competitive years yet.
/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The legendary Run Rabbit Run Ultramarathon presented by H2ALL and Altra returns to Steamboat Springs this year beginning on Friday, September 12, 2025 with one of the most competitive fields in its history and a record-breaking $100,000+ prize purse. Thanks to the support of generous sponsors and key sponsor Insight Global, the first-place male and female “Hare” finishers will each receive $20,000, the largest payout ever awarded at the event, and at any U.S. ultramarathoning event.
Founded and directed by Fred Abramowitz and Paul Sachs, Run Rabbit Run has long been recognized not only for its breathtaking course and spirited community but also for its commitment to supporting elite athletes in the sport.
“We’ve always wanted Run Rabbit Run to be more than a race, to be a way of giving back to the athletes who push the limits of endurance,” said race directors Abramowitz and Sachs. “Our race puts money into the pockets of these competitors, we hope to honor their dedication and help support their journeys in the sport. We believe prize money increases competition, and competition increases awareness for our sponsors and the sport as a whole.” Since its inception, Run Rabbit Run has also donated nearly $600,000 to local and national charities, reinforcing its mission as a race built on community impact as much as competition.
With elite ultrarunners from across the globe vying for podium spots, this year’s race promises thrilling head-to-head battles in both the men’s and women’s fields. Family, friends, and fans at home won’t miss a step. For the third year in a row, the entire event will be livestreamed through Run Rabbit Run’s continued partnership with Mountain Outpost, delivering mile-by-mile coverage straight to viewers’ homes.
Adding even more excitement, Run Rabbit Run includes special prize opportunities beyond the main purse:
Team Challenge — Runners can compete as part of a team, with up to $5,000 in additional prize money on the line.
Gondola Preem — A high-stakes sprint to the top of the gondola puts another $1,000 prize on the table for the first runner to summit.
Prediction Bonus (runners only) — Run Rabbit Run also has a twist for participants: a Prediction Bonus. Runners who correctly pick the men’s and women’s winners will earn a $1,000 prize, with an additional $500 available for correctly selecting the top team.
Run Rabbit Run continues to set the standard for what an ultramarathon can be, combining old school values with what is best of the new, a world-class event that rewards athletes, inspires fans, and gives back in meaningful ways.
