Frank Lara and Cleo Boyd Claim Titles and $2,500 Top Prizes; Themed Miles Like the Military & First Responders Appreciation Mile, Mister Rogers’ Mile, and City of ChampYinz Mile Inspired Participants Along the Way

PITTSBURGH (November 10, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 2025 EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler & 10K welcomed a record-breaking field as more than 5,500 participants crossed the finish line on Sunday morning. Runners and walkers from over 30 states and five countries joined the celebration of fitness and community, with elite athletes competing for an $11,000 prize purse and thousands more enjoying the scenic course through Pittsburgh’s most iconic neighborhoods.

“At P3R, we’re committed to creating opportunities for everyone to move, and today’s record-breaking turnout is proof that the running community in Pittsburgh is stronger than ever,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “Seeing runners, walkers, and families come together to celebrate movement shows how events like this can inspire a lifelong love of fitness—right here in our city and beyond.”

In the men’s 10-mile race, Frank Lara of Boulder, Colo. claimed the title with a time of 47:39 in his Pittsburgh debut. Zach Leachman of Mars, Pa. placed second in 48:05, followed by Will Norris of Charlottesville, Va. in 49:09.

“The race was a blast,” Lara said. “Zach kept me honest out there. The music was awesome and the cheering sections were loud and exciting. I’m really grateful to EQT for supporting the race. Pittsburgh is beautiful, and I’ll definitely be back.”

On the women’s side, Canadian Cleo Boyd delivered a dominant performance, finishing in 55:31. She was followed by Elle Orie of Orchard Park, N.Y, in 57:08, and Pittsburgher Samantha Hennen, who rounded out the podium in 57:29.

“This was my first time running the Pittsburgh 10 Miler, and I had a great time,” Boyd said. “I managed to catch some beautiful city skyline views on the bridges, and it was fun to experience the classic Pittsburgh weather that I’ve heard about. The crowds really helped me through those last couple of painful miles, and I was thrilled to come away with the win. I’ve done two P3R events now, and they’ve both been fantastic. I love racing in Pittsburgh, and I’m already looking forward to coming back!”

Participants began their 10-mile journey on West Carson Street near Highmark Stadium, kicking off with the Military and First Responders Appreciation Mile presented by Howmet Aerospace. The excitement continued on the North Shore during the DICK’S Sporting Goods City of ChampYinz Mile, featuring appearances by AMO from the Riverhounds and the Pittsburgh Steel Line. In the final stretch through the Strip District, runners were welcomed by the cheerful volunteers of Mister Rogers’ Water Stop.

The 10K race, which started near PNC Park on the North Shore, also saw impressive participation, with more than 1,300 runners and walkers. Samuel Hobbenheydar of Columbus, Ind. won the men’s race in 31:58, while Pittsburgher Allison Plassio claimed the women’s title in 39:44.

While parents took on the 10-mile and 10K challenges, children enjoyed Kids of STEEL programming and fun fitness activities at Highmark Stadium. In addition, more than 550 runners earned extra recognition by completing the Steel City Series, which includes the 2025 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend, the 2025 America’s Mile presented by VisitPITTSBURGH, and today’s EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler & 10K.
