Norfolk Shines as a Running Destination With Impactful 2025 Chartway Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon Weekend
November 24, 2025

NORFOLK, VIRGINIA /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Under autumn skies, the 2025 Chartway Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon Weekend, presented by Sentara, proved once again why it’s a destination race for thousands. On November 22-23, J&A Racing hosted a sell-out crowd of 5,300 participants from 38 states who converged on Norfolk not just to run, but to be part of a story larger than themselves.
Participants from across the country laced up for the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kids Mile, with many tackling the popular “Get Nauti” and “Nauti Lite” challenges. The scenic courses served as a moving tour of the city, guiding runners through the heart of downtown Norfolk, the charming streets of Ghent, the artistic NEON District, the serene Elizabeth River Trail, and the Old Dominion University campus. Each mile culminated in an unforgettable finish-line experience overlooking the water, followed by the Groovin’ Gourmets post-race party featuring live music from DJ Julz Cat & Rocky 7, local food, and craft beer.
“The energy this community generates is absolutely electric,” said Jerry Frostick, Race Director of J&A Racing. “From the first starting horn to the final finisher, you could feel a palpable sense of accomplishment and shared purpose. This event is more than a race; it’s an annual reunion that showcases the very best of Norfolk.”
A defining moment of the weekend, and a core part of the event’s mission, was the emotional presentation of dreams by the Chartway Promise Foundation. The event’s success directly contributes to the Foundation’s work of creating memorable experiences for medically fragile children, bringing moments of profound joy and hope to their lives.
“For 12 years, we’ve partnered with J&A Racing as the title sponsor of the Chartway Harbor Half Marathon,” said Brian Schools, President & CEO of Chartway Credit Union. “This event is more than a race; it’s a celebration of our community and a chance to make a lasting impact. Together, we’re helping medically fragile children and their families through the Chartway Promise Foundation, and that’s what truly makes this partnership meaningful.”
“By seamlessly merging a top-tier athletic challenge with genuine local spirit, the Chartway Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon Weekend has cemented its status as a must-do event for runners across the Mid-Atlantic.”. The event will return November 21 & 22, 2026. For more information, please visit norfolkharborhalf.com
