Malibu Moves Returns Oct. 25–26 with Scenic Races and Community Spirit
September 30, 2025

Second annual event expects thousands to walk, run, and celebrate while raising funds for Malibu schools and community fire brigades.
September 30, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – On October 25–26, Zuma Beach will host the second annual IPS Malibu Moves presented by UCLA Health, a weekend that has quickly grown into a community tradition. More than a race, Malibu Moves is about neighbors walking, running, and cheering together, while raising vital funds for local schools and fire recovery.
The weekend begins Saturday with family-friendly programming, including a 1K Kids’ Run, a 1-Mile Zuma Dash, yoga and sound bath by Veritas Yoga Malibu, arts and crafts hosted by Pepperdine’s Center for the Arts, bouncy castles, and a lively Kids Zone. On Sunday, participants can take part in a 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon along the Pacific Coast Highway. Every distance is walker-friendly, ensuring that people of all ages and abilities can take part.
With Purpose
What sets Malibu Moves apart is its mission. All net proceeds from the event go directly to local causes, with organizers estimating at least $50,000 for youth programs such as the Malibu Education Foundation and The Emily Shane Foundation, and another $20,000 for the Community Brigade.
For Malibu students, the support means more than dollars. Mishen, a ninth grader at Malibu High School, shared:
“The fires were really tough on Malibu students. We missed over 20 days of school during the last school year because of the fires, power cuts, and mudslides. The hardest part was having friends who lost homes—really everything they had—and then had to find other places to live. It was really great when we were able to get together again at school, hang out, and play sports after school. It helped us all get back a bit of our normal life. It’s going to take a while for Malibu to recover, but at least we have each other.”
Stories like Mishen’s are reminders that this event is about far more than medals and finish times.
More Than a Race
Malibu Moves is designed as a festival of resilience and togetherness. Saturday’s activities invite the whole family to participate, even those who don’t run. Sunday’s races conclude with a Post-Race Festival featuring music, food trucks, wellness activations, and a charity beer garden hosted by Malibu Brewing Company.
“Community is at the core of building resilience,” said Erica Segel, Founder and Race Director of Malibu Moves. “After the devastating and traumatic events that have impacted our beloved town, I knew Malibu Moves needed to step up and play a significant role in boosting morale, bringing people together, and raising funds for local charities. We are stronger together, and on October 25–26 we’ll be taking Malibu by foot to show this town’s strength and resilience.”
Supported by the Community
Malibu Moves is made possible by local businesses and organizations who believe in the mission. This year’s sponsors include International Protective Service, Inc. (IPS) as Title Sponsor, UCLA Health as Presenting Sponsor, Rusnak Auto Group and SoCal Edison (SCE) as Official Sponsors, Ventura Rental Party & Events as Official Sponsor of the Charity Lounge, and The Malibu Times as Media Sponsor.
Their partnership ensures that Malibu Moves can continue to thrive as both a celebration of wellness and a force for positive change in Malibu.
How to Get Involved
There are many ways to join: sign up for a race, volunteer along the course, sponsor a booth at the Expo, or make a direct donation. Every role matters in creating a weekend that reflects the best of Malibu’s spirit.
As the sun rises over Zuma Beach this October, thousands of footsteps will echo a single message: Malibu is strong, united, and moving forward together.
