Lurie Children’s Hospital and The Chicago Triathlon announce the launch of the Inaugural Corporate Challenge at the 2024 Chicago Triathlon

March 26, 2024

CHICAGO, IL (March 26, 2024) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Chicago Triathlon and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (Lurie Children’s) are excited to announce the launch of the inaugural Corporate Challenge, which will take place at the Chicago Triathlon on August 24-25, 2024. Lurie Children’s has been named the premier beneficiary of the event with fundraising efforts supporting pediatric cancer research.

The Chicago Triathlon is the largest urban triathlon in the United States with over 8,500 participants. The event consists of multiple distances – Olympic, Sprint, SuperSprint and a large kids triathlon.

The course and key segments run through iconic downtown Chicago locations with a swim in Lake Michigan, and is known as a perfect race for beginners with training resources and other programs to support those who are new to the sport of triathlon, as well as delivering competition for more experienced triathletes.

The Corporate Challenge is the corporate world’s fierce and fun triathlon competition where companies vie to raise the most funds for pediatric cancer research at Lurie Children’s. The introduction of a Corporate Challenge in Chicago by supertri Group – in their first year operating the event – builds on their proud tradition of fundraising with a Corporate Challenge in California that has raised over $18 million for pediatric cancer research.

Participants can register to compete in the triathlon as an individual or as part of a relay team. As well as building confidence in their swim/bike/run skills, plus getting fit and active, they will also be making a difference to the lives of children and families affected by pediatric cancer. Fundraising is built around incentives as you reach new levels, swim clinics and triathlon clinics to help those who are new to the sport. Participants in the Corporate Challenge join a community that benefits from the healthy lifestyle, camaraderie, and lasting connections that are built as a result of training, racing, and fundraising together.

“We look forward to partnering with Lurie Children’s in the years to come to continue our tradition of raising money for pediatric cancer research and we welcome teams from Chicago’s business community to join us on this tremendous journey, “ said Michael D’Hulst, CEO of the supertri Group.

“Lurie Children’s is proud to partner with supertri and the Chicago Triathlon,” said Dr. Robert Liem, Meryl Suzanne Weiss Distinguished Professor in Hematology, Oncology & Stem Cell Transplantation and Division Head, Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology & Stem Cell Transplantation. “The support of the Lurie Children’s community for our patients and families always inspires me. To provide the athletes competing in the largest and most accessible triathlon in the country with this outlet to help our kids is really special – and I’m excited to see which corporation wins the challenge.”

We are excited to announce that Lurie Children’s has formed the first team for 2024. If you are interested in registering a team for the Corporate Challenge or want more information, please email veronica.hoomani@supertri.com.
