February 6, 2026

Registration is now open for the inaugural Corona 5000 presented by Southwest Healthcare - Corona Regional Medical Center, in partnership with the City of Corona - a fast, family-friendly 5K on historic Grand Boulevard, where runners can chase PRs on what could be one of the fastest courses in the country

CORONA, California (February 6, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The roar of engines once echoed across Grand Boulevard in the early 1900s as thousands of fans lined the circular roadway for the famed Corona Road Races. From 1913 to 1916, drivers reached speeds approaching 100 miles per hour as up to 100,000 spectators cheered them on. Now, 110 years later, the same streets will come alive once again – this time powered by runners instead of race cars.

The inaugural Corona 5000, presented by Southwest Healthcare | Corona Regional Medical Center, in partnership with the City of Corona, a 5K run and walk, will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, celebrating the rich history and vibrant spirit of the “Circle City.” The event invites runners, walkers, families, and history enthusiasts to lace up and experience the iconic three-mile loop that once made Corona famous.

“Set in the heart of Corona, CA. the 5000 will capture the city’s historic small-town charm while delivering big-race energy,” said Race Director Gary Kutscher. “With Grand Boulevard’s perfectly round three-mile loop, we believe it has the potential to become one of the most unique and fastest 5Ks in the country. “We’re honoring Corona’s past while creating a new tradition that brings the community together through fitness, fun and local pride while giving local businesses a platform to shine.”

Race day kicks off at 6:30 a.m. at the Corona Historic Civic Center (815 W. 6th Street) with a lively pre-race expo featuring local vendors, antique race cars, food trucks, and kids’ activities including inflatable obstacle courses, games, and a hoops trailer. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m., guiding participants around the iconic Grand Boulevard loop before returning to a high-energy finish line celebration with refreshments, awards, entertainment, and community activations through noon.

Grand Boulevard has always been part of Corona’s story, and it’s exciting to see it come alive again in a new way,” said Corona Mayor Jacque Casillas. “More than a race, the Corona 5000 is about community, with neighbors cheering each other on, families making memories, and sharing the pride we have in our city as we honor our past and create something fun, healthy, and welcoming for all.

“We are proud to help bring this event to our community,” said Alistair Machoka, CEO of Corona Regional Medical Center. “Our hospital, with two locations, has such a long history centered around Grand Boulevard.  It’s quite exciting to be a part of reviving the historic events that happened here. Most importantly, as the main healthcare provider in Corona, we firmly believe in healthy lifestyles.  This fun run is an ideal way to relive the glory days while getting some exercise.  We are looking forward to seeing many of you out there!”

Organizers are encouraging local businesses and community partners to get involved as sponsors, helping to revive one of the region’s most defining stories while showcasing their brand to thousands of participants and spectators.

Early packet pickup and expo details will be announced in early 2026. To find out more information about how to get involved or to register for the event, visit www.Corona5000.com.
