October 29, 2025

Starting on the steps of California Memorial Stadium, a first-ever point-to-point 100-mile race in a region famous for endurance sports, athletes, and business.
BERKELEY, CA (October 29, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The heart of ultrarunning is about to get a new beat. Scena Performance today announced the launch of the inaugural Bay Area 100-Mile Endurance Run, set for 5 a.m. (PST) Saturday, June 6, 2026. The inaugural race is capped at 150 runners.
The Bay Area has long been a mecca of the sport of ultrarunning, serving as the home base for many legendary races, a training ground for elite athletes, and the nexus for many outdoor and running companies. This new race celebrates these historical roots, delivering a world-class 100-mile endurance run in one of the sport’s most significant geographic and cultural hubs.
The Bay Area 100 course is unlike any other ultramarathon, offering an unforgettable, beautiful and diverse experience at the intersection of city and country. Starting at the iconic California Memorial Stadium, the 100-mile journey immediately treats runners to expansive views of the San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. The point-to-point course features 18,000 feet of elevation gain at sea level, providing a true challenge without the factor of high altitude. As runners traverse the route, they will move through at least four distinct climate zones—the fog-shrouded Bay View hills, the arid Las Trampas Wilderness Regional Preserve, the vista-heavy lake section, and the shaded, cool redwood forests — creating an immersive tour of diverse ecosystems and legendary trail networks. The race finishes on the track at Skyline High School in Oakland, a popular training ground for runners.

“The Bay Area 100 recognizes our region as one of the birthplaces of ultrarunning in the U.S. Every single mile presents a fresh view—you’ll be constantly motivated by new scenery, from redwoods to the iconic skyline, to challenging and remote backcountry. It’s a spectacular way to experience the region,” says Adam Ray, race founder.
