The fourth edition of GFNY Lourdes lets riders tackle the giant of the Pyrenees
New York City, June 19, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This Sunday, the world-renowned pilgrimage town of Lourdes, nestled at the base of the majestic Pyrenees Mountains in southwest France, will host the fourth edition of GFNY Lourdes Tourmalet, a race known for its stunning scenery and grueling challenge.
Over 1000 cyclists from around the world will take on a 157 km course featuring a 4064 meters of elevation gain, including the legendary Col du Tourmalet (2115m) — the most frequently used climb in Tour de France history since 1910.
“At GFNY France, you get to race on hallowed ground several times per year,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “Last week, GFNY riders got to race L’Alpe d’Huez and this week it’s the legendary Col du Tourmalet. Lourdes is your perfect host town: it has an international airport and is at the footsteps of all the Pyreneen giants for any rider to make a dream cycling trip come true. Stay for a week to test yourself on all the legendary climbs and crown the week with a race that includes the Tourmalet.”
Race week festivities kick off at the Palais des Congrès, the hub for all pre-race activities. Highlights include the GFNY Lourdes Tourmalet Group Rides on Friday and Saturday, where GFNY riders, GFNY Club members, and VIP ticket holders come together for relaxed, scenic rides ahead of race day.

The official Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC website is NYC.GFNY.COM.
Cycling – Pro Racing
At Gran Premio New York City, professional teams race the same course as riders at the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC – but with a 10-minute head start. The third edition will be held on May 17, 2026.
Adding a women’s pro race would elevate the event further. The proposed format would have women starting 45 minutes ahead of the men’s pro race, giving them their own stage. However, the extended road closures required for this addition increase costs by $100,000.
For those interested in supporting women’s racing, GFNY is inviting companies and organizations to help sponsor this important addition. Contact GFNY to discuss partnership opportunities.
